There is often dissatisfaction in the society with the current political and daily situation - at this point we can stop and think: "What will happen in 4 years?", "Can I influence that?". The Association "Mediation Space" is aware that young people are part of our future and that we need to work with young people now, so that later they can work not only for themselves but for all of us.

The aim of the project "Strong together!" is to strengthen the participation of young people and the capacity of vulnerable groups of young people, ensuring the continuity of a culture of democracy. To achieve this, the project will develop young people's ability to form an independent opinion, analytically and critically evaluating the information obtained, to form a respectful and reasoned dialogue, the ability to avoid conflicts, but in case of their occurrence, to resolve them constructively and non-violently. During the implementation of the project, an environment will be created that promotes further structured succession in the transfer of knowledge and skills of young people.

We will create an organizational platform together with young people to develop support networks for vulnerable groups of young people. The implementation of our project, fulfillment of tasks, goal and its achievement will directly complement and strengthen the activities of other local youth NGOs by ensuring succession and establishing a support network.

The result of the project is a successful succession - young people are educated and knowledgeable in the field of democratic culture, are able to be active and pass on knowledge to others.

There are 7 activities planned during the project:

Activity 1 - "Me and the initiative!"

Open public events / discussions / improvisations where we will talk and all learn together on topics:

  • Do we want and know how to take the initiative?
  • Citizens' participation and civil society
  • What is democracy and democratic values?
  • Forms of democracy and public participation
  • Can we manage without politics?
  • What we need to know to get involved in politics
  • Problems and opportunities of the society
  • What is the management of the society?

Activity 2 - “My skills - my competence”

educational seminars where we will work in depth with specific skills of speech, rhetoric, critical thinking, argumentation and discussion, with stress management and the ability to resolve conflicts, so that young people learn to express and perceive information in the future, could better cooperate with others, grow and develop themselves and contribute to the growth of society and the country.

Activity 3 - "Democracy Week".

The aim of the event is to bring together municipal deputies and young people so that they can talk to each other about important things that motivate young people or, on the contrary, repel the idea or desire to participate and be civic activities.

The main keywords of the event - will, enthusiasm, understanding, tolerance, consistency.

The events are planned once a year, within the framework of the "Democracy Week" initiative launched in 2020

Activity 4 - “A knowledgeable youngster is a value!”

in-depth training to ensure succession. The succession of the project will be passed on to a total of 40 young people, who will have the skills both to promote civic participation by participating in civic activities and to show and strengthen people's faith in their ability to influence decision-making processes. (The activity will start in the second half of 2022.)

Activity 5 - "I know and I give"

open discussions, which are started by the young people themselves. The themes started in the first activity continue in this activity, but now the young people themselves have learned and gained confidence to lead the event and express their opinions publicly on topics of civic importance. (The activity will start in the second half of 2022.)

Activity 6 - "Together we can do better!"

Closing events / information events organized by young people. 2 initiatives that will be organized and led by young leaders, introducing themselves and demonstrating the acquired succession skills. In organizing and running the events, young people will address organizations from different social backgrounds and nationalities, as well as representatives of national minorities, organizations that bring together people with special needs, and organizations that provide support to people after imprisonment. Young people, together with mentors, will introduce their citizens' citizenship initiative projects, invite them to discuss the initiatives, as well as invite them to get involved in the development of the planned support network for vulnerable youth within the project. (The activity will start in the second half of 2022.) At the end of the project, the valuable contribution to the society will be not only knowledgeable and capable young people, but also specific non-governmental organizations founded by young people. In the last stage of the project, small scholarships are planned for young people who are actively involved in the whole project, as well as an opportunity for a group of young people to establish their own NGO without the involvement of personal funding!

 Activity 7 - "I may say!"

a remote discussion platform, where everyone is invited to talk about current topics in society that affect our everyday and civic activity. This is a place to grow and learn the discussion, where to "learn to argue" so that the conversation becomes real, strong and productive. Discussion platform link - HERE -> "I CAN SAY!"
